Is it too early to start buying my winter wardrobe? It's barely summer any more, and there are such nice things online for winter that I'm getting tempted to put all my summer clothes away and fill my wardrobe with warm clothes. I've still got plenty of big scarves, jumpers and chunky knitwear from last year that are gorgeous, I just want a new really nice coat for this winter. I want to wear lots of pretty dresses with wooly tights and socks and chunky jumpers this winter, with some knee length boots. I think it'll look really feminine and sexy, rather than wrapping up all the time in jeans and hoodies and looking like a teenage boy! Right I'm decided, wooly tights and long socks, new winter boots, and a new coat it is! Roll on winter! Photo: Idhren (Flickr)
Remember when I asked you all to help me remember everything that I would no doubt forget when I packed for my holiday? Well guess what? I did forget something! Not only did I forget my camera charger, but I also forgot the np20 battery that was sat charging in it! I got to the first tourist spot on the trip and my camera wouldn't turn on, then I had that awful 'oops' feeling in the pit stomach as I realised I'd forgotten the charger and battery. What a nightmare! We didn't want to miss out on all the photos we wanted to take, and thought about maybe buying a load of disposable camera, but the quality just isn't as good in those so we ended up buying a whole new camera - it was easier! Professor Layton! I had the first ever game years ago but my partner stupidly left my DS Lite with the game in it on the plane when we were flying back from our holiday. You can imagine my reaction to such a thing... But anyway, I wasn't that far into the game at that point, so recently I re-bought it for my 3DS with the second and third games which were in an offer, and oh my god... I've loaded them all onto my R4i card because I am ripping through them so quickly and don't want to be stuck finishing one without the next one there and all ready to go! I'm about to finish the first one and my head hurts a bit from the more difficult puzzles, brain training! Apparently they're developing the sixth one now and we're waiting for the fifth and sixth ones in the west still, apparently they might re-develop them for the 3DS too - win! Photo: bochalla (Flickr)
All throughout my life I have let my parents do the parenting. I mean, that's what they are there for right? They took care of me until I left home, and even afterwards if I really needed them they were always there for me, even though I didn't always appreciate their help or advice at the time.

However recently I am beginning to become aware of a shift in roles. My grandmother, who is now 80 years old, is still living in the house my mother grew up in. After my grandfather died some 5 years ago now, she is becoming increasingly more frail and my whole family is increasingly worried about her. There has been some discussion of perhaps trying to persuade her to go into a residential home, but I think it would make her lose all sense of identity and who she is being forced out of her home of 50 years. So we have decided to put in a StannahStairlift to give her her independence back. Things have improved greatly for her, but the whole situation has made me think a lot more about how one day I will perhaps have to take on the parental role with my own parents, and how difficult it can be to do the best for someone you love, but who is likely to feel they know best. After all, parents generally do think they know what's best for you right?
I was thinking of buying a suit for my brother's birthday but I don’t know much about mens suits! So I was doing some research into suits online, when I came across a list of the most expensive ones that you can buy off the peg. I must confess I wasn't thinking of spending this much! But it has peaked my interest that some people do spend this much on one suit! And I thought I'd share it with you. In reverse order: 5. Ralph Lauren - $ 3,295 4. Giorgio Armani - $3,595 3. Botteya Veneta - $4,200 2. Kiton - $5,800 1. Brioni - $6,000 I mean these aren't even custom made, they are off the peg! I imagine the most expensive custom made suits cost tens of thousands. And people who work at say, Rowan Dartington who need to wear an expensive suit to work every day probably own several of these, and I would have to save for months just to buy one! Sorry brother, I think maybe I'll just get you a DVD.
